Executive Summary
Odoo's pricing page gives you the license cost. It does not give you the implementation cost, custom development cost, integration cost, or the cost of training 40 warehouse operators. For a mid-market manufacturer evaluating Odoo, the license is typically the smallest number in the total cost calculation.
This guide covers all five other cost components for manufacturers with roughly 50 to 500 employees. Every implementation range is illustrative. Actual Odoo implementation pricing depends on scope, process complexity, data condition, deployment model and partner.
Why "How Much Does Odoo Cost?" Is Harder to Answer Than It Looks
Five other components shape the working Odoo ERP cost.
The licence is the one number the pricing page gives you
Implementation and configuration
Discovery, process design, configuration, testing, training, and go-live support.
Custom module development
Software built when standard Odoo cannot handle a compliance rule or operating workflow.
Integration development
Connections to a WMS, MES, carrier, EDI network, equipment or legacy application.
Data migration
Cleaning and moving item masters, bills of materials, customer records, open orders and inventory balances.
Training
Role based instruction for purchasing, production, warehouse, quality, finance and management teams.
Odoo Pricing and Licensing: Enterprise, Community and Hosting Options
Odoo offers Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, and on-premises deployment. Community is the free, open source edition. Odoo Enterprise is sold through the Standard and Custom subscription plans.
Pricing below was checked on September 2, 2026, for the United States with annual billing. Odoo localizes prices, so confirm the rate shown for your country before budgeting.
Two paid plans, and the difference matters more than the price gap
Current Odoo Enterprise Pricing Per User
$31.10 per user per month, then $38.90
It includes all apps on Odoo Online, but excludes Odoo Studio, multi-company operation, external API access and custom code.
$61.00 per user per month, then $76.20
It adds Studio, multi-company, external API access, and the option to use Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or an on-premises installation.
$0 for one app, unlimited users
One app on Odoo Online with unlimited users. Dependencies required by that app are also included.
Odoo does not publish a separate on premises Enterprise license. An on premises deployment uses the Custom subscription, then adds the manufacturer's own infrastructure, security, backup, monitoring and administration costs.
Where Community fits
Odoo Community has no license fee and can suit a small operation with developers who can manage hosting, maintenance, upgrades and support. Its functional coverage differs from Enterprise, and some capabilities manufacturers commonly need may require community add-ons or custom development. That trade can be sensible when the internal team can own the software. It becomes less attractive when production, quality, barcode, reporting or support requirements create more maintenance than the license would have cost.
| Deployment | Software and hosting cost | Custom modules | ITAR-controlled use | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Odoo Online | Standard or Custom subscription; Odoo hosting included | Studio and approved apps only; no server-side custom modules | No | Standard processes and limited customization |
| Odoo.sh | Custom subscription plus hosting priced by workers, storage and staging environments | Yes | Usually no | Companies needing custom code without managing infrastructure |
| On-premises | Custom subscription plus internal or third party infrastructure | Yes | Possible with the right controls | Custom, regulated or isolated environments |
Odoo.sh hosting is separate from the Enterprise license. Its official calculator prices the environment by workers, storage, hosting type, and staging environments, so it should be sized against expected users, transactions, integrations and development activity.
Odoo Implementation Services Cost: What You Pay the Partner
Odoo implementation services are the partner's fee for deploying and configuring Odoo to the operation's requirements. The work usually covers discovery, configuration, testing, training, go-live and early support. For a mid market manufacturer, services are often the largest single part of the budget.
Most partner proposals include module configuration, user setup, a basic migration template, a fixed training allowance and go-live support. They may exclude complex migration, custom modules, external integrations, detailed validation documentation and support after a short warranty period.
$40,000 to $90,000
For five to seven modules, one site, and no custom development. Typical timeline: 14 to 18 weeks.
$80,000 to $160,000
When the project includes an FSMA 204, AS9100 or pharmaceutical compliance module. Typical timeline: 18 to 24 weeks.
$120,000 to $220,000
When demand forecasting, anomaly detection or workflow agents are included. Typical timeline: 20 to 28 weeks.
$150,000 to $400,000
For two to four facilities, depending on site differences and integration complexity. Timeline varies with site count and process divergence.
- US configuration work may run $150 to $250 per hour, with development at $200 to $300.
- Offshore teams may quote $30 to $80 per hour.
- These ranges are illustrative and do not predict total cost. A lower rate can still produce a larger invoice if discovery is thin, rework is high or manufacturing knowledge is missing.
- Hours and deliverables by phase.
- Named data objects, record volumes, and cleanup assumptions.
- Systems, transactions, direction, and latency for every integration.
- A written change-order policy.

Odoo Custom Development and Integration Costs
A mid market Odoo project often needs some custom work, but it should begin only after the team has tested standard configuration. Every custom module adds build, testing, documentation, upgrade and maintenance work.
Custom work starts after configuration has been tested, not before
Illustrative Custom Module Costs
- FSMA 204 key data element capture: $25,000 to $50,000
- AS9100 serial genealogy: $30,000 to $60,000
- METRC inventory integration: $20,000 to $45,000
- 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures and audit trail: $30,000 to $55,000
Each connection is priced by transaction type, not by system count
Common Integration Ranges
- Carrier rates and labels: $8,000 to $20,000
- EDI transactions such as 850, 856 and 810: $15,000 to $40,000
- Bidirectional WMS connection: $20,000 to $60,000
- MES, OPC UA, or SCADA connection: $25,000 to $80,000
AI middleware may add $20,000 to $50,000 for demand forecasting, $15,000 to $35,000 for inventory anomaly detection or $25,000 to $60,000 for workflow automation. Forecasting also needs enough clean demand history, commonly 12 to 24 months. If that foundation is missing, data work comes before model development.
GrayCyan's Odoo ERP development work focuses on these manufacturing gaps, including compliance modules, system integrations and AI connected to operational data. A discovery phase should still determine whether configuration or a process change can solve the problem at lower cost.
Total Odoo Implementation Cost by Scenario: A Three-Year View
The useful comparison is a three year total because licensing and hosting recur while most implementation fees are paid during the project. The examples below combine current US Custom-plan licensing at the regular $76.20 per user per month with illustrative service ranges. They exclude first year promotional savings, taxes, internal labor and future scope changes.
Licensing recurs, implementation does not. Three years is the honest window
| Scenario | Three-year license estimate | Other project costs | Illustrative three-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard manufacturing, 20 to 30 users | $54,864 to $82,296 | $40,000 to $90,000 implementation | $95,000 to $172,000 |
| Regulated manufacturer, 40 to 60 users | $109,728 to $164,592 | $80,000 to $160,000 implementation; $25,000 to $60,000 compliance; $20,000 to $60,000 integrations | $235,000 to $445,000 |
| Regulated Odoo plus AI, 50 to 100 users | $137,160 to $274,320 | $80,000 to $160,000 implementation; $50,000 to $120,000 compliance; $60,000 to $130,000 AI; $40,000 to $100,000 integrations | $367,000 to $784,000 |
The table does not include Odoo.sh or on premises infrastructure. Add the configured Odoo.sh amount or the actual server, security, backup and administration budget. Standard-plan licensing will cost less when Odoo Online and unmodified workflows are sufficient.
Odoo's subscription can be lower than many mid market ERP licenses, while implementation for equivalent scope may remain similar. Custom work can narrow that gap. Compare like-for-like modules, users, locations, integrations and support terms through an ERP implementation cost comparison rather than relying on headline license prices.
Costs Commonly Missing From the First Odoo Quote
The first proposal can look complete while leaving work that the operation cannot avoid. Ask whether the budget includes these eight items.
Data cleanup
Units of measure, duplicate SKUs, routing versions, lot attributes, open orders and inactive records may need correction before migration.
Historical data
A partner may migrate opening balances and open transactions but leave years of quality, maintenance and genealogy history behind.
Validation
Pharmaceutical and medical device teams may need requirements, test scripts, traceability, approvals and IQ/OQ evidence.
Interfaces
EDI maps, carrier certification, equipment drivers, API monitoring, error queues and retry handling are separate pieces of work.
Environments
Development, test, validation, training and production instances each add hosting and administration cost.
Internal time
Process owners must document workflows, clean data and test scenarios, attend training and support cutover.
Post-launch support
The initial warranty may cover defects but exclude new requests, reporting changes, user administration and optimization.
Annual custom-code upkeep
Odoo releases a major version each year. Custom modules and integrations need regression testing before an upgrade.
A credible cost of Odoo implementation includes these items or marks them as explicit exclusions. That distinction makes competing quotes easier to compare and reduces change orders after the project begins.
What Makes Odoo Implementation Cost Higher or Lower
Two manufacturers with the same user count and modules can receive very different estimates. The difference usually comes from the work surrounding the licenses.
- Standard workflows cannot satisfy compliance or operational requirements.
- Item, BOM, routing, supplier and inventory data need extensive cleanup.
- Odoo must exchange real time transactions with a WMS, MES, EDI network, carrier or equipment layer.
- Plants use different processes, charts of accounts, labels, or approval rules.
- Validation documents and controlled testing are part of the deliverable.
- Managers request old system behavior without checking whether standard Odoo already supports a simpler process.
- Process owners agree on a common future state workflow before configuration.
- Data has clear owners, consistent units and documented migration rules.
- Existing Odoo functions or proven connectors meet the requirement.
- The rollout begins with core modules, then adds advanced manufacturing, compliance and AI in measured phases.
- The quote defines acceptance criteria and integrations at the transaction level.
Phasing can distribute spending and reduce launch risk, but splitting tightly connected processes can create duplicate work. For example, postponing lot genealogy after inventory design may force the team to revisit labels, locations, scans and migration rules.
How to Build a Defensible Odoo Budget
Start with the operation, not a list of apps. Document how material, information, approvals, and accounting entries move today. Then separate requirements into three groups: standard Odoo configuration, integrations, and genuine custom development.
Before approving AI work, complete an AI Readiness Assessment. A forecasting model cannot correct inconsistent demand history and an automation agent should not act on an unstable approval process.
Start with how work actually moves, not with a module list
Step 1: Count licensed users by role
Include employees who need backend access. Portal customers and suppliers do not normally require paid internal user licenses.
Step 2: Choose the deployment model
Standard on Odoo Online may suit common workflows. Custom is needed for Studio, external APIs, multi-company, Odoo.sh or on premises use.
Step 3: Define the first release
Name the sites, modules, legal entities, production processes, reports and cutover date.
Step 4: Profile the data
Measure records, duplicates, missing fields, attachments, history and reconciliation requirements.
Step 5: Specify each interface
List source, destination, transaction, direction, frequency, exception handling and owner.
Step 6: Budget internal effort
Protect time for decisions, cleansing, testing, training, and cutover.
Step 7: Add contingency
A 10 to 20 percent reserve can cover discoveries without hiding weak scope. The exact reserve should reflect how much discovery and data profiling are complete.
